Paleo-Indians travelled across the Bering Land Bridge and moved southward, eventually settling in Marin Co. California.

These stone age people worshipped a volcano that now dormant on the grounds of San Quentin Prison. This is why they will be referred to as the San Quentin people.

Periodically, the volcano would erupt, producing large volumes of ash and scattering numerous small to medium-size pieces of glass, metal and lava.

The San Quentin People collected these materials and over thousands of years, learned how to use the heat belching from the volcanoe's caldera to soften or re-melt the glass.

The pliable glass was fashioned into shapes that would perform the same functions as their stone tools.
